Emirates boss weighs up move for Lyon star.
Arsenal are considering a move for Brazilian international Michel Bastos and looks ready to make an offer to land the wide man. Arsene Wenger is known to be an admirer of the 27 year old who moved to Lyon last summer from Lille and has been warned by the French club to keep his hands off their prized possession.
The talented left sided player can play either as an out and out winger or as a attack minded full back and has made noises about being interested in a move to the Premier League and after seeing his side fail to beat Marseille to the Ligue 1 title last term may feel a move away from the French league may be the best way to help his career progress.
Wenger may feel that the chances of snapping up highly rated Bastos have been increased after he was dropped from new Brazil manager Mano Menezes’s first squad. The Lyon man had forced his way into the national team set up under Dunga after a good first season at his new club which included some fine displays in the Champions League.
Bastos may well not have been too enamoured with his sides start to the new season which began with a limp home draw with Monaco.
Whilst the Emirates boss is keen to bring in a centre back as well as a new keeper he has been given ample funds to rejuvenate his squad and may feel that Bastos is a player who could improve the left side of his squad and would also be the type quality signing the Gunners fans are hoping to see signed this summer.
