Liverpool have agreed a £2m deal with Middlesbrough for goalkeeper Brad Jones and have finalised the £5.5m signing of Christian Poulsen from Juventus.
Liverpool, who hope to agree a new one year contract with defender Jamie Carragher, 32, this week, have reportedly been offered Barcelona midfielder Alexander Hleb as a potential makeweight in a deal for Javier Mascherano but the Argentinian is still expected to join Inter Milan. (Daily Mail)
Its not a move that will thrill the Anfield fans but its a move that gives Roy Hodgson another goalkeeping option, albeit not a spectacular one, one with a relatively safe pair of hands. The 28 year old Australian international has spend the last nine years flitting in and out of the Riverside first team picture, spending time out on loan to five clubs in that period.
He’s a big lad who has a little Premier League experience but is clearly just being purchased to help give Liverpool more cover. With any luck this arrival will signal the departure of a certain Charles Itandje, who remarkably still remains at the Merseyside club.
