Sir Alex wants to bring talented French international to Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson is rumoured to be considering a bid for Bordeaux playmaker Yoann Gourcuff and hopes to beat neighbours Man City for the French international’s signature. The 24 year old midfielder is reportedly looking to leave his Ligue 1 side in search of a new challenge and is said to be interested in a move to the Premier League.
Having helped secure the domestic title in his first season at the club, Gourcuff is unhappy with life under new boss Jean Tigana and after seeing his side lose their opening two fixtures of the season to Montpellier and then following that up with a disastrous home defeat against Toulouse a departure seems even more likely.
Roberto Mancini has been linked with a £25m bid for the former AC Milan and Rennes man and Ferguson may struggle to win any potential bidding war for the player but has been told by the club’s chief executive David Gill that finances are available for new additions.
Ferguson is looking to secure more creative midfield options and is known to be an admirer of Gourcuff who had a nightmare World Cup, culminating in a red card against the hosts South Africa, but is a player with a great deal to offer.
