AC Milan are poised to offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic an escape route from Barcelona in a deal that could see the Spanish champions make one last effort to sign Cesc Fabregas before the transfer deadline.
The Sweden striker is keen on a return to the city of Milan after his £45million move from Inter last summer, with Barca coach Pep Guardiola happy to allow him to leave.
His exit would make room for Fabregas by cutting £8m off the wage bill, giving president Sandro Rosell a reason to go back to Arsenal so he could fulfil his election pledge by taking Fabregas to the Nou Camp.On the move: Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be on his way back to the city of Milan
But Fabregas has said: ‘I am an Arsenal player and as soon as I step out on the pitch, that is the only club I will be thinking about. I am looking forward to the start of the season and putting this speculation behind me.’
Sources at the Emirates Stadium have dismissed suggestions their current refusal to do business over the midfielder hides a promise they could take a different view next season. (Daily Mail)
So Barcelona are going to try one last time to take their former youth player away from the Emirates but should they even bother? Arsenal have made it abundantly clear they have no intention of selling and after much deliberation it seems Cesc Fabregas has committed his immediate future to the north London club.
Sandro Rosell finds himself in a bit of pickle. He stated in his Presidential manifesto that he would bring back the Spanish midfielder and failure to do so will put him on a bad footing to say the least. Arsene Wenger and Arsenal Football Club were very clever in their dealings with the Catalan club and are unlikely to listen to any offers from the Nou Camp sign.
Reports suggest that Barca will offer an increased bid of £42m for the 23 year old but like their other bids are destined to be turned down flat by a Gunners side with no need or inclination, to sell.
