Wenger finally gets his man as French international completes Emirates move.
Arsenal have wrapped up the signing of defender Sebastien Squillaci from Sevilla on a long-term contract.
Sevilla confirmed earlier in the week that an undisclosed offer had been accepted for Squillaci and the France international was heading to Arsenal to undergo a medical.
The 30-year-old has now finalised the move to Emirates Stadium to become Arsene Wenger’s third signing of the summer.
Wenger had been looking to improve his defensive options, particularly at centre-back, after losing William Gallas, Mikael Silvestre,Sol Campbell and Philippe Senderos since the end of last season. (Sky Sports)
So Arsene Wenger finally gets his man some three days after the French international undertook his medical. The deal is said to cost Arsenal around £5.5m and helps boost the north London sides defensive options. The 30 year old is vastly experienced and has put pen to paper on a long term contract said to be around three years in length.
This may not be the last of the transfer activity Wenger is planning with a keeper still being chased with Mark Schwarzer still very much on the Emirates radar. The Sevilla centre back will not be ready to take part in Saturday’s match against Blackburn Rovers.
