Eastlands man looks for swift exit.
Manchester City’s Emmanuel Adebayor has told talkSPORT he is determined to leave Eastlands before the end of the transfer window.
Speaking after the Blues’ 2-0 win against Timisoara in the Europa League, the former Togo striker stated he is ready to leave the club if an offer comes in for him.
The former Arsenal striker is one of the first dissident voices At City following the club’s £100million spending spree over the summer.
“If you’re in a team and you’re not playing and there is a team that comes in for me then i will definitely be on my way out”
Abebayor said: “The season is going to be very long and very difficult for myself. I’m a footballer and have to keep going and not give up. I need to keep fighting for myself and enjoying my football.
“If you’re in a team and you’re not playing, and there is a team that comes in for me, then I will definitely be on my way out because I’m a footballer and I love playing. (TalkSPORT)
This could become a regular occurrence as players arrive at Eastlands one summer only to become surplus to requirements a year later, such is the level of change in operation at Man City. This is a problem that Real Madrid has had to deal with as they bring in oodles of talent and then change boss which invariably leads to a new arrival wanting to freshen things up with some new additions.
Emmanuel Adebayor is being very honest and all he needs know is someone to actually make a solid offer for his services, something that as yet has not occurred. Juventus were said to be interested in the former Arsenal man but no significant bid was forthcoming.
The Togo international didn’t have a bad season last term and managed a very decent 14 goals in 25 starts but clearly Roberto Mancini is trying something new this term and has not selected Adebayor in either of his first two starting elevens of the Premier League season.
Clearly he won’t be cheap and no doubt he will command a huge wage in the region of the obscene amount he is receiving from City and this could stand in the way of any big money move this summer.
