All you need to know to show off to all your friends and help you to win big money…probably.
Gameweek 2 was full of goals and included a couple of shock results along the way but users of the site will have prospered with Gareth Bale and Andy Carroll in particular providing healthy point returns. Now we turn our attention to Gameweek 3 and beyond in search for more big scorers for your team.
Paul Konchesky has been at the centre of a lot of transfer speculation this summer and it seems he may move to Liverpool at some point. Fulham were one of the surprise packages last season as they made it into the final of the Europa League although they had a mediocre season in league, finishing 12th. Fulham put in a decent performance against Manchester United this week; securing a 1-1 draw at home against last year’s runner-ups, after a solid defensive performance in a goalless draw at Bolton on the opening day. Fulham’s next five fixtures come against only two teams who finished in the upper half of the table last season with the toughest of them coming at home against Everton. Because of the chance that Konchesky may move to Liverpool and the back-up of Fulham’s comfortable fixtures, we feel that Konchesky is a strong option for your team.
Florent Malouda is currently the top scoring midfielder on the fantasy football game, and priced at 4.7mi he is far from being the most expensive. Malouda has started both of Chelsea’s destructive early season performances, and has scored 3 goals during those matches, gaining 3 bonus points. Playing on the left side of what is often an attacking 3, Malouda has been instrumental in the early season, and with none of Chelsea’s next 3 matches coming against top half finishers from last season; big points could be available in the upcoming matches. Because of his storming start to the season many managers are including Malouda in their teams, meaning he is rising in value rapidly. For this reason we would suggest finding room for him in your team as soon as possible as you can then capitalise on his price rise. A mix of Chelsea’s easy fixtures, the potential for big points and the likelihood of a price rise mean Malouda is a must for your team.
Stephen Ireland will look back on his 24th birthday for all the wrong reasons after a tough debut with his new club, Aston Villa, as they were hammered 6-0 on the return to Premier League football to St James’s Park. We do however still feel that Stephen Ireland represents good value for money because of his attacking flare and natural eye for goal. Stephen Ireland made a few bold statements after his move away from Eastlands, saying he felt unappreciated at City and felt he was more talented than some of their new signings. His natural talent cannot be doubted, at the age of 22, Ireland set the fantasy football league alight as he scored 9 goals as well as 10 assists for Manchester City. We feel that if Ireland can recreate his past form, he is likely to be a bargain signing for your team as he is likely to score big points and therefore his value will surely rise.
Gamble – Fernando Torres started his first premier league game since April against Manchester City on Monday night and although the result was a disappointing one, Torres showed a few moments of promise that puts him back into contention for your team. We hardly need to explain the attraction of this man, with 72 goals in 117 games for Liverpool; Torres set a club record for scoring 50 league goals in the fewest games. He is therefore a gamble only in the sense that he is yet to regain full match fitness and because of his susceptibility to injury. Liverpool’s next premier league game comes against West Brom at Anfield, and who would bet against Liverpool putting a few goals past them? If they do, Torres is likely to be involved and so should be in contention for a few goals or at least assists. If Torres does regain full form then his current price tag could prove to be a bargain and is likely to rise as his point scoring increases.
