Former Barcelona man on Britannia Stadium radar.
Skysports.com understands Stoke are in talks to sign Eidur Gudjohnsen from Monaco.
Gudjohnsen spent the second half of last season on loan at Tottenham after falling down the pecking order at Monaco.
Spurs were expected to try and make Gudjohnsen’s move permanent, but the deal failed to materialise and the Icelandic international was forced to return to Monaco.
Gudjohnsen is well down the pecking order at Monaco and the French side are willing to let him move on.
A number of clubs have been linked with a move for Gudjohnsen, including Fulham and Rangers, but it seems Stoke are at the head of the queue for the former Chelsea man. (Sky Sports)
This would be quite a coup for the Potters. Tottenham decided against pursuing the Icelandic international after a successful loan period at White Hart Lane last season and it now seems likely the former Barcelona and Chelsea man will leave Monaco before the transfer window slams shut.
The 32 year old is 31 year old is vastly experienced and a chance to bring him to the Britannia is clearly something Tony Pulis would dearly love to pull off, not least because of his sides poor start to the season.
Gudjohnsen is an adaptable attacking midfield weapon that must surely be targeted by a number of prospective clubs as well as Stoke City.
