Emirates boss turns attention to highly rated Bologna keeper.
Arsenal are reportedly considering making a last gasp move to sign Bologna’s highly rated keeper Emiliano Viviano. Arsene Wenger is still hoping to bring in a keeper before the transfer window closes but may have admitted defeat in his pursuit of Fulham veteran Mark Schwarzer and has therefore switched his attention to the 24 year old former Brescia man.
Viviano is on the fringes of a full Italian call up after representing his country at under 21 level. The 6ft 5in goalie had a good season at the struggling Serie A side last term and started this season with a top notch display against champions Inter Milan last night, a match that the Gunners boss apparently sent scouts to monitor.
After four solid seasons at Brescia, during which time Viviano was purchased by Inter Milan on a co-ownership deal, the giant stopper was brought to Bologna where he has proved to be an instant hit.
A move for the Florence born custodian could be secured relatively cheaply as Bologna are apparently heavily in debt and would be keen to bring in funds and could accept offers in the region of £6m for the talented goalie.
