Belgian goalkeeper joins as Upton Park cover for Robert Green.
West Ham have confirmed the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Ruud Boffin on a two year contract.
The 22-year-old impressed while on trial two weeks ago and he was brought in for a nominal fee from Dutch side MVV Maastricht just before the deadline as cover for Robert Green who is due to undergo hip surgery. (Daily Mail)
Ruud Boffin, what an impressive name.
In all seriousness though, this could prove to be a handy signing for Avram Grant, as cover will be needed for when Green is unavailable.
Grant enjoyed a rather successful transfer window, being able to bring in players such as Winston Reid, Tal Ben Haim, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Frédéric Piquionne, Victor Obinna and Lars Jacobsen, whilst keeping hold of Carlton Cole who had attracted interest from Liverpool.
However, the team have not made the greatest start to their Premier League season and currently sit bottom of the table after three games.
