Valon Behrami admits he is gutted to still be at West Ham.

The Swiss star held talks with Roma – but the Italian club were unable to sell players to raise the funds.

Behrami, 25, said: “I am disappointed the deal failed to go through – that is for certain.

“Avram Grant gave me his permission to speak with Roma.

“But he also said he needs me, with West Ham bottom of the table.

“I’m sure I’ll still get to play for them.” (The Sun)

Valon Behrami would have been a big loss for West Ham, and there is no doubt that he will eventually move on, but whilst the club are struggling he could prove a big asset.

Although he will be disappointed at not being able to move back to Italy, he is likely to remain professional and do a job for the team in the coming months. His energetic performances will be needed if West Ham are to gather some momentum.
