Real Madrid are set to launch a shock bid for Tottenham’s Gareth Bale in January.
The Spanish giants made a late effort to recruit the 21- year-old whizz kid before last Tuesday’s deadline but were knocked back.
But Real coach Jose Mourinho sees Bale’s pace and power as an asset – and they are likely to be back in the New Year. (Sunday Mirror)
It’s no surprise that Europe’s elite are taking a healthy interest in Welsh international Gareth Bale, his performances over the past year have been astounding and a big reason Harry Redknapp’s side are enjoying Champions League football this season. The 21 year old had some tough times at White Hart Lane since he made his move from Southampton but it seems the wide man is now showing his full potential.
It is reported that Jose Mourinho is so enamoured by the left sided player that he is going to offer up to £27m for his services and perhaps such a move will tempt the youngster although clearly Redknapp will fight off any interest in one of his prized assets a move of that magnitude may be hard to turn down.
A lot could depend on how the north London side progresses this season. If they once again break into the top four and perhaps have a good run in Europe then maybe any advances will be ignored, however if the club does not build on the successes of last season then who knows.
