Old Trafford outfit keen on Bernanbeu flop.
Juventus will reportedly endeavour to sign Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema in January according to Tuttosport, but the Serie A giants are likely to face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool.
The 22-year-old has failed to impress Jose Mourinho and unless there are significant changes in his attitude and more pertinently his form, the France international will be jettisoned at the turn of the year, and reports in Italy indicate the former Lyon prodigy will have plenty of suitors eager to sign him in a cut-price deal.
Sir Alex Ferguson is a long-term admirer of the forward having failed to land him last summer, and Manchester United were strongly linked with the player in June. Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is also considering a move for the striker, having struggled to bring in support for Fernando Torres during the summer.
Tuttosport suggest Juventus will rival the aforementioned Premier League duo should Benzema become available in the next window, and there is a suggestion any of his potential suitors could land the forward for as little as €15 million. (Sport.co.uk)
Sir Alex Ferguson has long been an admirer of the Frenchman and his horrid time at the Bernabeu doesn’t promise to get any easier under Jose Mourinho and if the opportunity arrives for the Old Trafford boss to nab the former Lyon man on the cheap, he will not think twice.
This source believes that the Premier League may be a preferred option for the 22 year old French international and a move to Liverpool may not appeal, especially if come January they are no nearer to reasserting their claim for a Champions League spot, and he would surely jump at the chance of a move to Man United.
Manchester United may also be after another attacking option and regardless of how poorly Benzema has fared in Spain he is still a feared predatory who’s physical presence lends itself well to a potential move to the English top tier.
