White Hart Lane outfit failed with a swap offer for Goodison Park pair.
Everton boss David Moyes rejected an amazing multi-player swap offer with Tottenham on transfer deadline day last week.
The People says he turned down Tottenham’s offer of swapping Robbie Keane and David Bentley for Steven Pienaar and Louis Saha.
Moyes and chairman Bill Kenwright blocked the deal but Spurs are expected to make another attempt to sign contract rebel Pienaar.
By then, his valuation will have dropped dramatically unless he signs a new contract – his current one expires next summer. (Tribalfootball.com)
Would this deal have been that great for Everton? It’s hard to see what David Moyes would have got out of such a swap offer. Clearly both Louis Saha and Steven Pienaar are vital to the Goodison Park outfit whereas both David Bentley, and to a lesser extent Robbie Keane, are not really crucial to Tottenham at all.
Harry Redknapp is a huge fan of South African attacker Pienaar and until he puts pen to paper on a new deal then Moyes will always be weary of seeing the former Ajax man leave for nothing next summer. The Toffees may well then decide to cash in on the player rather than see him leave for nothing.
32 year old striker Louis Saha started last season with a bang but has now gone 13 Premier League games without a goal and Everton need him to be firing on all cylinders if they want to pull away from the relegation zone and back up towards the top six where they will be looking to progress to.
