Atletico Madrid are monitoring David Silva’s situation at Manchester City.
The big money signing from Valencia this summer has struggled in the opening weeks of the season and City manager Roberto Mancini admits the Spaniard needs time to adjust to the Premier League. However, Atletico are ready to make a move should Silva remain on the fringe of the first team. Whilst things haven’t exactly gone according to plan for the 24 year old Spanish winger it is surely too early to entertain notions of the former Valencia man looking to leave in January. Thus far David Silva has played a grand total of 99 minutes of Premier League football and he has looked a little off the pace but he hasn’t had enough time to prove himself and the bigger problem may be whether Roberto Mancini opts to keep faith in the Spaniard.
Mancini really has a host of options to pick from and as such, some players will simply not be regulars in the starting eleven. However many would have expected Silva, who only arrived in the summer for a whopping £26m, would be one of the first players on the Eastlands team sheet but it may not prove that way.
Luckily for the pint sized flair player, he can perform in a number of positions and therefore may get a good run in one of those spots sooner rather than later. Interest from Europa League winners Atletico Madrid may however prove tempting if things are not rosy come the re-opening of the transfer window.
