Emirates side joins chase for talented Sevilla man.
Arsenal are the latest big-name club to express an interest in signing Sevilla’s flying winger Jesus Navas, according to reports in the English press.
Tabloid The Daily Star comments that Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of the Spanish international’s abilities and wants to move for the player in the January transfer window.
Juventus, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona have all been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, who is yet to commence negotiations with Sevilla regarding a contract extension, and sides are circling with the intent of prising Navas from Andalucia.
However, Rojiblancos president Jose Maria del Nido will not consider entering into negotiations with any interested parties, and given the sizeable nature of Navas’ release clause, it is unlikely that any team with the exception of Manchester City would be able to meet the valuation. (Goal.com)
It appears that 24 year old Sevilla winger Jesus Navas is the subject of a great deal of transfer speculation of late but its hard to know how much of this is down to the player’s agent attempting to drum up a better deal for his client and how much is actually down to solid interest in the Spanish international.
Incredibly this season is Navas’s eighth in the first team at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and the talented right winger may feel the time is right for a new challenge and he may feel that a big money move may also help his chances of cementing a regular spot in the national team set up and there is certainly a number of interested parties looking to capture the Los Palacios man.
Arsene Wenger will no doubt be attracted to the flair and skill Jesus Navas possesses, his style of play and speed of thought on the field of play make him very much an Arsenal style player but at the same time everyone knows that the Gunners manager doesn’t often spend vast sums on one player and by all accounts it would take a bid of around £22m to get the club interested in cashing in on one of their prized assets.
As this source suggests, expect Roberto Mancini to get sometime any time soon.
