HARRY REDKNAPP says he is ready for England – any time they call.
The Tottenham boss is among the favourites to replace Fabio Capello when the Italian retires after Euro 2012.

And Redknapp insisted: “I have proved I can do what I can do as a manager by getting Tottenham to fourth place from where we were.

“Whatever I do at Tottenham – in the Champions League or the Premier League – my record has not been too shabby. I don’t ever think I have got anything to prove.”

England folded under Capello at the World Cup when the weight of expectation dragged them down after a super qualifying campaign. (The Sun)

Indeed, Harry’s record has “not been too shabby” and he would surely be on of the clearest favourites for the job if the FA, as they appear to be leaning towards, choose an English boss to lead the England team. Such criteria leaves few viable options. Sam Allardyce believes he would be a good candidate for the job but few would agree with him.

Harry Redknapp has done a good job wherever he has gone and the main gripe many have with his potential selection is the theory that he is very much a club manager and not really suited to the national team post. I guess many feel that what the White Hart Lane boss does best of all is chop and change and play the transfer market game well, clearly something that is not applicable for the national team post. After all you can’t decide to go shopping across Europe to find an adequate centre back, mores the pity.

However the 63 year old Londoner would be a good choice in my book and I think the only two sets of supporters who would be against it would be Arsenal, for the obvious reasons, and Tottenham, who would not want to see their boss leave.
