Liverpool are being linked with a move to sign Stoke City centre back Ryan Shawcross. The former Man United youth player has developed a reputation as a no nonsense defender who’s career has become somewhat overshadowed by the dreadful tackle he made on Arsenal midfeilder Aaron Ramsey. However the 23 year old has battled hard and is a consistent performer who is now on the fringes of an England call up.
Roy Hodgson is looking to bring in new defensive options as he looks to the future and has to look to replace veterans like Jamie Carragher and Sotiris Kyrgiakos and look to develop a back four for the long term. The former Fulham manager was linked with a move for the Chester born defender when he was at Craven Cottage so a move for the Potters man would appear to be a potentially likely one.
Tony Pulis will fight hard to keep hold of Shawcross who has become the mainstay of his defensively solid Britannia Stadium side. The Stoke City man is thought to be valued at around £10m and would be a decent signing with good potential to improve and progress and would surely be tempted by a move to the Merseyside club.
