Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly considering a move to bring Koln’s adaptable attacker Lukas Podolski to Old Trafford. The German international has not had the best of times since his move back to the club he began his career with and he may well be amenable to a new challenge as he sees his side lurch from one crisis to another.
Podolski has managed just four goals in 33 matches for Zvonimir Soldo’s side and was hoping that the club could improve on last season’s 13th place finish but this term has proved even more of a disaster as they find themselves in 16th place and embroiled in a relegation battle.
Lukas Podolski left Bayern Munich after he fell down the pecking order at the Alianz Arena but now he may feel a move away from the Bundesliga would signal a new challenge that may well appeal to the talented 25 year old.
Sir Alex Ferguson is known to be an admirer of the Polish born striker who can also operate out wide and he may be just the kind of adaptable talent that he would like to add to his Man United squad. Podolski has been his most consistent when on international duty where he has managed a very healthy 41 goals in 82 appearances for the national team.
He is thought to be valued at around £12m and Chief Executive David Gill has stated publicly that Ferguson has funds for new additions so could well approve a move in January.
