Spanish side Malaga are reportedly keen on signing Liverpool’s Ryan Babel on loan in January.
The 23-year-old Dutchman has never been a regular first eleven player at Anfield since moving to Liverpool in 2007. He looked to be on his way out last season, but performed well during the second half of the campaign. Under Roy Hodgson, Babel has made only two brief appearances for the Reds as a substitute in the Premier League.
Spanish daily AS reports that Malaga are keen on a loan deal for Liverpool star Babel. However, any decision on transfers will most likely have to wait until the ownership battle at Anfield is settled. (IMScouting)
There was a time, about a year ago, that opinion on Ryan Babel and his worth to the Anfield side was divided but now it seems that almost to a man, Liverpool fans will tell you it is time to let the Dutchman leave the club. Roy Hodgson had confused matters some what by stating on his arrival that the winger/striker would be given a chance to prove himself after three indifferent seasons under Rafa Benitez.
However it seems that the Liverpool boss doesn’t fancy actually giving the 23 year old any more chances to prove himself and has only handed the former Ajax man 13 minutes of Premier League football this term, which is a pretty damning verdict on what he thinks Babel can achieve. After all that’s 13 minutes of action during the club’s worst start to the season in over 50 years, so it’s not like quality performances are keeping him out of the reckoning.
It does seem likely that an exit in January may be on the cards but it is more likely the Merseyside club would like to cash in on the £11.5m signing as opposed to farming him out on loan although some reports state that talks are actually taking place with the La Liga side. A move back to Holland seems the most likely outcome for the Dutch international who has taken flattering to deceive to whole new levels.
