Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Lyon wing back Michel Bastos and are looking to make the most of the French sides shocking start to the season with a proposed January bid.
The 27 year old former Lille man had a great first season at the Stade Gerland and helped Lyon to a Champions League Semi-Final spot but has seen his side slip to the relegation zone this season and Ferguson may well feel he can secure the talented attack minded wing back during the Ligue 1 club’s crisis period.
The Old Trafford boss was interested in the set piece specialist and was linked with a move for Bastos before he moved from Lille to Lyon and is rumoured to be ready to try again. Some sources believe that Patrice Evra may be looking to move back to his native France and this may have some bearing on interest in a possible replacement, hence their apparent interest in the Brazilian international.
However it could be that he is thought of as more likely to play further up on the left in a more orthodox winger role. The free scoring wide man has been a huge success in France but could be ready for a new challenge and would surely jump at the chance of a move to Man United.
Lyon paid in the region of £16m for his services last summer so a move would cost at least that much to persuade Claude Puel’s side to sell.
