Manchester United are set to join a long list of interested parties looking to pounce for PSV Eindhoven attacking midfielder Ibrahim Afellay. The talented Dutch international has not agreed a new deal at the Eredivisie side and will be out of contract in the summer.
Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to be a big admirer of the 24 year old who netted twice for his country this week in their win over Sweden and is ready to make an offer to bring the adaptable attacker to Old Trafford. Afellay can play in a number of positions across the midfield as well as in the hole behind the strikers.
The likes of Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid have been linked with a summer move for the in form Dutchman who has been in sparkling form thus far this season helping to take PSV to the top of the table after an unbeaten start during which time Afellay has scored four times.
His performances have helped to secure a starting spot under Bert Marwijk after a World Cup spent warming the bench and coming on for occasional cameo roles. Ferguson may well feel that the chance to sign such a talented player for nothing is just to good an option to let slip by.
