Liverpool and Tottenham are tracking Lyon striker Lisandro Lopez, according to reports in the press on Thursday.
Harry Redknapp is scouring Europe for a new front man to help cope with playing a Champions League campaign and has also been linked with Sevilla’s Luis Fabiano and Juventus’ Vincenzo Iaquinta.
Liverpool also need a new striker to take some of the burden off Spain star Fernando Torres, although any move the Reds make is dependant on the ownership issue being concluded before the January transfer window opens.
Lyon are thought to be willing to let Lopez leave this winter if they receive an offer of around £14m for the 27-year-old Argentine. (Daily Mirror)
Lisandro Lopez has apparently fallen out with Lyon boss Claude Puel at the Stade Gerland but he is still a very potent attacker as Liverpool found out to their cost during their encounter in the Champions League last term when the Argentine netted against the Merseyside outfit.
The 27 year old scored 24 goals in all competitions last term and prior to that had great success at Porto where he managed 44 goals in his last two terms at the Portuguese club so we are talking about a striker with a proven track record.
Tottenham will fancy their chances of landing the attacker but if Roy Hodgson’s side are in a healthier position in the table by January then perhaps a move to Anfield will tempt Lopez who has been quoted as saying he would be keen on a Premier League move.
