Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is hoping to pull off a summer transfer coup by bringing his former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato to Stamford Bridge. The Italian is looking to bring in some younger faces to build for a bright future and is reportedly being backed financially to make a move for the Brazilian international.
The Blues manager is mindful of the overall ageing look of his Premier League table topping side and is especially aware of the fact that his two main striking options, Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba, are both nearing the end of their glittering career. Therefore he is looking for a new marksman and has earmarked a move for 21 year old starlet Pato.
A move for the San Siro cult hero will not come cheap and as the talented youngster is valued at around £55m but Roman Abramovich is ready to splash the cash in order to land one of the hottest prospects in Europe. The success of such a move is very dependent on whether AC Milan fail to land any major silverware this term as Alexandre Pato has thus far experienced three seasons without any trophies to speak of.
However this season has begun well and new boss Massimiliano Allegri has guided the Rossoneri to the top of Serie A and have started the Champions League campaign relatively strongly. If the Italian giants fail to last the course then former manager Ancelotti is ready to attempt to lure Pato to west London.
