Palermo striker Abel Hernandez has shown ambivalance towards his future as he fails to rule out an Arsenal move.
The Gunners are reportedly keen on the Uruguayan, with Arsene Wenger following his progress in Sicily.
And Hernandez has opened the door to joining a major club as he ponders his future, but he doesn’t seem overwhelmed by the interest.
“Arsenal want me? For now I am thinking about Palermo. Afterwards, if there is the chance to join a big club we will see,” the hitman told Mediaset Premium.
“My first experience in Italy was with Genoa when I have a trial there, but they never kept me on because I had some heart problems.
“But Palermo believed in me and they ensured I had surgery.”
Hernandez has previously been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, who reportedly made an approach to sign him in the summer which was quickly rebuffed. (Goal.com)
Palermo have over achieved of late and they have followed last season’s magnificent fifth placed finish with a solid start to this campaign but one wonders if Abel Hernandez would think twice should an offer come in for his services from the Premier League? The 20 year old Uruguayan is right to be thankful for his Sicilian side showing faith in his ability but it could be that his Serie A side may look to cash in on the youngster to help battle losses the club has to cover.
The Italian club had to sell Simon Kjaer to Wolfsburg in the summer and also lost the likes of Fabio Simplício to Roma and Marco Bresciano to Lazio. Arguably those are three of the club’s most important players so if a significant offer came in from Arsenal it could be that a move would be accepted by the club.
