INTER MILAN are lining up a big-money bid for Bolton’s star defender Gary Cahill, according to reports in Italy.
Inter boss Rafa Benitez was reportedly interested in the 24-year-old while in charge at Liverpool and the Spaniard is ready to test Bolton’s resolve to keep hold of him with a £10m offer.
But it is thought that such a bid would fall around £5m short of Bolton’s valuation of Cahill, who won his first England cap in the Three Lions’ 4-0 victory over Bulgaria at Wembley last month.
Inter, treble winners last season, are currently third in Serie A and Benitez has made no secret of his desire to strengthen the squad during January.
But sources in Italy have revealed that Inter have allocated a maximum of £10m to strengthen their defence. (TalkSPORT)
There is no denying that Gary Cahill is a very decent centre back and no doubt also that over the past two seasons he has been an incredibly consistent performer at the heart of the Reebok Stadium back line and that he deserves to be in Fabio Capello’s England set-up. However will the 24 year old really be heading to Inter Milan. To the side that are reigning Serie A and Champions League winners.
The answer is surely an emphatic. No. This speculation is probably unfounded and even if were based in reality Owen Coyle would fight tooth and nail to keep the former Aston Villa man.
