Manchester City are planning a move for Sunderland goal machine Darren Bent and will look to sign the England international in January as Roberto Mancini looks to reshape his attack after seemingly given up on a number of his attacking options.
The Stadium of Light hotshot has become one of the most consistent goalscorers in the Premier League since his move from Tottenham and he may well be looking for a new challenge as the burden of being Steve Bruce’s main attacking threat fails to help push the Black Cats into the top half of the table and beyond.
Bent would have hoped that he could have helped Sunderland challenge for the Europa League spots but the north-east side seem no nearer to progressing towards that goal and he may well be tempted by a move to Man City.
The Eastlands boss appears to have given up on Emmanuel Adebayor who now appears to only be guaranteed a starting spot for Europa League encounters and Roque Santa Cruz seems to have become the forgotten man at the club. Mancini is reportedly a big admirer of Darren Bent who has netted a very healthy 29 goals in 46 Premier league starts at Sunderland. He is valued at around £20m but clearly finding the funds for such a move would not be a problem for Man City.
The 26 year old may feel that a move to the City of Manchester Stadium would aid his hopes of a starting spot in Fabio Capello’s England squad.
