Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has issued a hands-off warning to clubs eyeing Gareth Bale after his hat-trick in the 4-3 loss against Inter Milan.
Redknapp hailed Bale’s performance as world class and said: “He’s a player that we hope to build a team around.
“There’s no way that we would or should contemplate selling him at the moment, certainly not in the near future.
“If Tottenham sell Gareth Bale now, it would send out the wrong signals about Spurs being a selling club.” (BBC)
This is certainly the right message for Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp to send out if he is looking to take the club forward. Gareth Bale showed last night that he is more that capable of matching up to some of Europe’s best players, and he is the player Tottenham need to build around if they are to become a real force.
Bale’s brilliant second half hat-trick brought a huge positive to an otherwise disappointing night for the London club, and the Welsh winger has now announced his name onto the world stage.
Clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and last night’s opponents Inter are all said to be interested in the player, but Redknapp has made it known that his star man is not available at any price.
