Yes David, we can’t quite believe it either.
SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON is dreaming of taking David Beckham to Leicester City.
The former England manager wants his former skipper to play for the Foxes during the LA Galaxy off-season.
Beckham is playing in Major League Soccer again after the Achilles tendon injury he picked up during his spell at AC Milan.
Eriksson and Beckham remain friends after their time together with the Three Lions.
LA Galaxy were unhappy Becks missed a chunk of their season after his Milan injury so will take a lot of persuading to let him go on loan again. However, Eriksson and Leicester’s new Asian backers have the ambition to give it a try and hope even a brief stay by Beckham could push them towards the Premier League.
A source close to Eriksson said: “Sven thinks he has a chance and he is a very smooth operator when it comes to these things.” (Sunday People)
Sven may well be a very smooth operator but unless he has some hypnotic power or access to some very strong narcotics, the chances of the Walkers Stadium boss getting David Beckham to move to Leicester City are slim to none. This is meant as no swipe at the Championship side, but perhaps the Swede should start by first helping getting his side of the relegation zone and then try to build on that before making impossible moves in the transfer market.
Thus far the former England boss has had a mixed time of it at the club with a win, a draw and a defeat in his first three games in charge. One wonders how long he will survive at the club before he is offered an obscene amount of cash to manager elsewhere as this tends to be the way the bespectacled one works.
