Manchester United are reportedly preparing themselves for a significant January bid from Serie A giants Juventus for impressive young Old Trafford striker Federico Macheda. The Italian club have been linked with a move for the Italian Under 21 international for some time and recent comments from the Rome born youngster may have given them hope in their chase for his services.

Speaking on the interest shown by the Turin club Macheda was quoted as saying

“I have known about Juventus’ interest. They are a top European team like United and any player would like to play there,” Macheda told Tuttomercatoweb.com. (Goal.com)

And the arrival and emergence of Javier Hernandez appears to have further affected Macheda’s chances of getting a run in the Man United first team and could therefore make a move back to his native Italy a very tempting prospect.

The £12m rated former Lazio youth team player has managed just four Premier League starts since he burst onto the scene with his marvellous winner against Aston Villa more than 18 months ago. Sir Alex Ferguson will not want to lose a player with undoubted potential but may also feel it hard to guarantee the player the first team football he may feel he deserves.

AC Milan and Roma are also said to be monitoring the situation with a view to making their move as and when they feel a move away from Man United becomes a possibility.
