[picappgallerysingle id=”8066242″]O Jogo, a Portuguese daily sport newspaper whose name translates as “The Game”, is reporting that Benfica are to sell one of their two prime assets in January.
The two players concerned are left back and winger Fabio Coentrao, and centre back David Luiz – who has long been linked with Chelsea – and O Jogo reports that Benfica will accept no less than €25m for either player.
Coentrao in particular had an excellent World Cup, and looks a fine prospect playing in almost the opposite role of Tottenham’s Gareth Bale – he is a left winger who has been converted to left back to wonderful effect.
Luiz meanwhile is 23, and has just started to play for the Brazilian national team. He is left footed, and is typically comfortable on the ball for his nationality, as well as being dependable at the back.
Either player would be a fine asset for a top Premier League side.
