Chelsea and Manchester United are set to battle it out for German Under 21 international Ilkay Gundogan next summer. The talented midfielder is likely to leave Nurnberg when the season comes an end and his Bundesliga side have already admitted that financial problems at the club will force them to cash in on a player dubbed the “Next Mesut Ozil”.
Both Carlo Ancelotti and Sir Alex Ferguson are looking to reverse the ageing nature of their sides and would dearly like to get hold of one of the hottest prospects in the Bundesliga. The 20 year old is in his second full season and has shown maturity beyond his years and is now the subject of a great deal of interest and many believe that as well as interest from the Premier League, Bayern Munich could be looking to snap up Gundogan.
Gundogan’s performances have helped Nurnberg evolve from perennial strugglers to a side chasing European qualification and his success will more than likely see the £9m rated youngster leave the Frankenstadion sooner rather than later.
