Manchester United are reportedly ready to make an offer for Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina. Sir Alex Ferguson is desperately looking to bring in a replacement for veteran Edwin Van der Sar and has been watching with interest as reports speculate that the Spanish international goalie is unhappy at Anfield and may therefore make a cheeky offer for the top notch custodian.
The Old Trafford manager has been linked with many potential targets in recent months with the likes of Manuel Neuer and even Man City goalie Shay Given but Ferguson may now turn his attentions to the 28 year old Madrid born goalie.
Since his arrival on Merseyside in the summer of 2005 Reina has become one of the most consistent performers in the English top tier and even during the current turbulent season he has managed to put in some solid displays but according to some reports he is not very happy at life under Roy Hodgson.
The Spaniard was quick to claim that reports of his unhappiness were inaccurate but that hasn’t stopped many sides taking an interest in his services including Arsenal who have also reportedly considered making a move for Reina. Clearly a move to arch rivals Man United would be a contentious one but that would not prevent Sir Alex from making an approach for a player who may well be an ideal replacement for 40 year old Van der Sar.
After all Reina has importantly proved himself in Premier League and that level of experience may become an invaluable asset when Man United look to invest in a new goalie.
