TOTTENHAM could make the shock decision to sell Aaron Lennon, as they step up their bid to land his fellow England winger Ashley Young.
Young is a long-term target for Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and has told Aston Villa he is unwilling to sign a new deal until next summer, when he will have just a year left on his contract.
Lennon’s form has been indifferent since he suffered a tough World Cup and it is believed there have been some concerns about the 23-year-old of late. (Sunday People)
Tottenham will consider selling Peter Crouch when the January transfer window opens for business.
Despite finding the net five times in the Champions League this season, Crouch has scored just once in the Premier League this season.
That was yesterday in the 4-2 win over Blackburn!
Boss Harry Redknapp warned Crouch to pull his socks up last week or face the threat of losing his place for club and country with rival strikers breathing down his neck. (Daily Mirror)
Whilst there is a distinct possibility that Harry Redknapp will allow Peter Crouch to leave White Hart Lane, would the Tottenham boss really consider selling winger Aaron Lennon? The 23 year old speed merchant had an excellent season last term, when not sidelined with injury, and the idea that he might be offloaded seems very unlikely.
The former Leeds man makes things happen and at the cost of just £1m must be considered one of the best buys the club has made in recent years. The tricky wide man is arguably as good, if not better, as Aston Villa winger Ashley Young so quite why he would be offloaded to bring in the Villa Park man is baffling to say the least.
Crouch on the other hand has been poor this season and like Redknap’s other striking options has struggled to find the net and has been linked with a move back to Liverpool where he would at least have a chance of regular first team football.
