CITY can confirm that Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury has joined the Canaries in a 28-day emergency loan deal.
The Arsenal Academy product featured heavily for Watford on loan last season, making 34 Championship appearance scoring five goals and has also had a loan spell at Scunthorpe United.
Lansbury has already had a taste of Carrow Road this season having been a part of Stuart Pearce’s England Under-21 squad that beat Romania 2-1 in October.
Considered a bright prospect for the future by Arsene Wenger and the Gunners, Lansbury will come in to bolster the midfield following a series of injuries.
On Lansbury’s arrival, Paul Lambert told First News: “I’m delighted Arsenal have agreed to let Henri come here. I saw him when he was at Watford and Scunthorpe and he’s a quality young player, very positive in his play.
“We have been hit with injuries and midfield is one of the areas where we needed strengthening. Henri gives us more options in there which is important.” (Norwich City official website)
This is a move that will surely benefit both parties.
Arsenal are unlikely to be able to give Lansbury much first team football at the moment, with no Carling Cup matches until January.
Norwich meanwhile are suffering from dreadful luck with injuries, and the England U21 international’s education at the Emirates will aid him in the Championship.
A month of first team football will accelerate Lansbury’s progress.
Having pulled off some decent saves against Germany in the U21 match, he will also be a worthy backup should Norwich suffer similarly bad fortune with goalkeeper injuries!
