Panathinaikos have renewed their interest in Manchester United midfielder Anderson .
According to Greek reports, Panathinaikos representatives recently met the Brazilian’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and the two sides reached an agreement on personal terms.
Panathinaikos are reportedly looking to sign Anderson on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.
Anderson, 22, has made just five appearances this season for Manchester United .
He is contracted to the Red Devils until 2012, and he is valued at €10M-15M. (IM Scouting)
In the summer of 2007, Manchester United signed Owen Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson, and fans of the Red Devils believed that the successors for Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes were found.
Only one of those is beginning to live up to his potential, and that is Nani.
Of course, Owen Hargreaves can hardly be blamed for his injury problems, but Anderson has stagnated at Old Trafford, and as a result one of the most promising young midfield talents of the last five years or so could be wasted.
There is still hope for the Brazilian though.
A loan move to Panathinaikos could get his career on track though, but the permanent transfer fee mentioned of €10-15m would be a significant loss for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.
Manchester United will hope Anderson can start to play his best – whether in the short term at Old Trafford or elsewhere on loan – so he can finally live up to his promise.
He has the talent. He just has to use it.
