Everton target Yannick Djalo insists he is happy at Sporting Lisbon – but would be open to a January move.

The creative winger has been tracked by David Moyes for some time and sources in Portugal revealed Everton have been in touch with Djalo’s club about the possibility of a January move.

But the 24-year-old, who has just returned from injury, says he will only leave Sporting if it is for the good of the club.

He said: “There is still time until January and then we’ll see what is best for me and the club.

“I can only say that for me the most important thing is Sporting.

“I’m at a great club that formed me from junior level and I owe it all to them.” (Daily Mirror)

The more Everton are linked with wide midfielders, the likelier Steven Pienaar’s exit seems.

Given that David Moyes signed the South Africa international for just £2m, the Toffees are unlikely to make a loss should they cash in on the player in January, but for a player who could conceivably be worth an eight figure sum were his contract not running out, it will still seem like a bitter pill to swallow.

However, if Everton can sign someone of the calibre of Yannick Djalo, the loss of Pienaar will seem easier to take.

Djalo has scored 17 goals in 77 appearances for Sporting Club de Lisbon, and has just broken into the Portugal international team.

His brother Aliu was part of the Chelsea team that won the 2010 FA Youth Cup, and having a sibling in the same country is likely to aid his development – as is his friendship with Manchester United star Nani.

Though of course anyone can look good in a YouTube video highlights reel, they still show what a player is capable of.

Here’s Djalo:
