The Ashes Tickets Still Selling As England Australia Prepare For The Gabba

Not long to go until the first ball at Brisbane

England v Australia

Here we go again.

If you didn’t think the summer of 2009 was nail-biting enough, get ready for another six weeks of excruciating ebb and flow as The Ashes gets underway at The Gabba on Thursday. True, the last series to be held down under was a damp squib as a contest with England being summarily dismissed with a 5-0 whitewash but  the odds on the same scoreline being replicated this time round are extremely slim

England a far sharper unit that has been better prepared by a thorough coach in Andy Flower who – for now at least – has no major injury concerns. In fact it is the Aussies who are ‘under the pump’, to use the hosts’ vernacular, having suffered defeats in their last three test matches.

The local press are fearful that their team could well lose a series on home soil for the first time since 1987  giving captain Ricky Ponting the dubious honour of being the first Australian to lead his side to three Ashes series defeats in over a century.

With such an intriguing few matches in prospect it seems extraordinary that there are still tickets available but their are still seats to be had for all five tests including the first test in Brisbane.

Let the games begin.
