Liverpool are set to step up their interest in Roma striker Mirko Vucinic and hope to finalise a deal to bring him to Anfield in January.
Reports in Italy had suggested that Liverpool could be tempted into a swap deal with Dirk Kuyt moving to the Italian club with Philippe Mexes heading in the opposite direction.
But it has now emerged that Liverpool are keen to keep Kuyt at Anfield and are poised to make a £20m offer for Vucinic.
Vucinic, 27, has a proven track record in Serie A and is regarded as one of the best forwards in Europe. (TalkSPORT)
Juventus are set to offer Liverpool misfit Ryan Babel a January escape route.
According to reports in Italy, talks are at an advanced stage between the clubs for the sale of Babel who has struggled to hold down a first-team place since arriving in 2007.
The former-Ajax winger has made only 30 Premier League starts in over three seasons at Anfield and was heavily linked with a move to Birmingham City in the summer.
That move fell through, but Babel’s ill-fated Liverpool career could come to an end in January with Juventus keen to push through a deal.
And their Serie A rivals Lazio are also monitoring the situation and could be ready to make an offer of their own. (TalkSPORT)
It seems it may all be kicking off at Liverpool as this source seems to think that Roy Hodgson will have a busy January with multiple Italian moves as he looks to improve his stuttering Anfield squad. A move for Roma striker Mirko Vucinic is not as unlikely as it may at first seem. The Montenegrin international has apparently fallen out with coach Claudio Ranieri and a move to the Premier League appears to appeal to the 27 year old.
Ryan Babel to Juventus is also a decent shout. The Italian side are looking to freshen things up as the Serie A giants look to reshape their squad in the hopes of improving on last season’s dismal finish. New boss Luigi Delneri has helped the Old Lady of Italian football back into the title race and is hoping to add more strength to his Turin outfit and clearly the Dutch winger would jump at the chance of a move away from a club that appears to have given up on him after three and a bit seasons of very inconsistent displays.
