Manchester City scouts are watching Benfica’s Uruguayan World Cup star Maxi Pereira.
Wing back Pereira, 26, has also attracted interest from Barcelona with Benfica likely to want in excess of £6m. (Daily Mirror)
Manchester City have been linked with Uruguay right back Maxi Pereira, which would seemingly end the Eastlands careers of at least one of Roberto Mancini’s current players in that position: Micah Richards, Pablo Zabaleta and Jerome Boateng.
The Benfica player has 41 caps for his country, and scored his first international goal in the 2010 World Cup 3-2 defeat to the Netherlands.
Still, while Pereira is a decent player, he’s not quite Dani Alves, who shone for Barcelona against Real Madrid last night.
City were repeatedly linked with a move for the Brazilian last week, but now it seems that they have downgraded their ambitions.
