Nicklas Bendtner ‘eyed by Everton’ as Arsenal bid for Papis Demba Cisse
Nicklas Bendtner could be allowed to join Everton on a six-month loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer in January after Arsenal’s interest in Freiburg striker Papis Demba Cisse was revealed.
Bendtner looks to be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium after falling down the pecking order, behind new signing Marouane Chamakh and Robin van Persie.
The Gunners are hoping to sign Cisse, 25, from Metz in January to add options up front.
And if the Senegalese forward joins, Danish international Bendtner will be given the green light to move on with David Moyes already said to have made enquiries about him.
Bendtner would welcome any move that allows him to get more time on the pitch after recent warnings from Denmark coach Morten Olsen.
He told Sky Sports News: ‘Thinking with the eyes of the Danish national team, you have to have minutes and you have to have enough games, and if he’s not playing in Arsenal we cannot use him of course.
‘So it’s important not only for Nicklas Bendtner but for all the players that they are playing.’ (Metro)
Nicklas Bendtner and Arsene Wenger are said to have had a few disagreements in the recent past that have led to the Danish international having to look for a new club as his first team chances slowly vanish. The 22 year old is yet to start a Premier League match this season and a move to Everton may well be a sensible one for all concerned given that David Moyes misfiring side has managed just 18 goals thus far this season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s interest in Papiss Cisse grows after the former Metz man’s amazing start to his Bundesliga career at Freiburg where he has scored an astonishing 13 goals already this season to make him the joint top scorer in Germany this season. The powerfully built front man could offer Wenger another attacking option.
The north London club have relied heavily on new signing Marouane Chamakh this season due to Robin Van Persie being sidelined for large chunks of the campaign with injury. Perhaps Cisse will aid the club’s title ambitions?
