Chelsea are believed to be eyeing a £70 million double swoop for Manchester City skipper Carlos Tevez and Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko.
The News of the World claims that the Argentine forward would be in favour of a move to west London after handing in a written transfer request at Eastlands.
The former Manchester United striker’s request has since been rejected, and the player himself is thought to have assured manager Roberto Mancini that he will remain professional and put in his best efforts for the greater good of the club.
However, there appear to be doubts as to whether the 26-year-old will really fulfil his contract at City – which could encourage Chelsea to formalise an offer.(Goal.com)
This source believes that Chelsea are ready to reshape their attack and whilst in the long term that may well be the case it seems a bit of a stretch to believe the west London side is going to spend vast sums on both Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko.
There seems no way that Man City would allow their star striker join a direct rival to their Premier League aspirations but a move for the Wolfsburg goal machine may be more likely. Carlo Ancelotti will be looking at potential additions, perhaps next summer, for younger strikers who can take over the mantle from Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka in the long term.
Some have suggested Drogba may also be tempted by a move back to Marseille but that seems like a move that would be more likely in a season or two down the line as the 32 year old still appears to be in good form, having netted 45 goals in his last 59 starts in all competitions.
