Manchester United will forego any January transfer as he looks ahead to the summer when Sir Alex Ferguson plans a big transfer spend on new recruits in the summer. The Old Trafford boss will make significant bids for Schalke keeper Manuel Neuer, Benfica left back Fabio Coentrao and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

Ferguson is determined to bring the best young talents across Europe to help boost the players already in his Man United squad and will look for the financial backing to offer attractive deals to this trio of young talent.

Manuel Neuer is a keeper Sir Alex has been monitoring for some time and the hideous campaign Schalke have had thus far will persuade the German international is future lies elsewhere and the 24 year old has already stated his desire to try the Premier League and perhaps more importantly the talented goalie has ruled out a move to Bayern Munich. The Gelsenkirchen born 6ft 4in keeper would be seen as an ideal replacement for Edwin van der Sar who is thought to be nearing the end of his illustrious career.

Fabio Coentrao is an attack minded left back who impressed at the World Cup with Portugal and is a player that Ferguson rates highly and as talk continues about the potential exit of French international Patrice Evra a move for the Benfica youngster appears more and more likely.

Karim Benzema is a player that Ferguson attempted to sign whilst he was first making a name for himself at Lyon and whilst he is currently enjoying a purple patch at Real Madrid, come the end of the season when Gonzalo Higuain will have long since forced him back to the bench, a move away from the Bernabeu would become more likely.

It would cost Man United around £50m to sign the three top targets the Scot is after and he will hope that the Glazers are willing to fund these moves to help plan for a prosperous future at the club.
