NEWCASTLE UNITED want to bring Shaun Wright-Phillips on loan to St James’ Park in the January transfer window.

New Geordies boss Alan Pardew will have no money to spend and is looking for a couple of loan deals, including the Manchester City winger, with Ben Arfa over a month a way from a return after breaking his leg in October.

West Ham and Liverpool are also keen on the England winger even though his £70,000-a-week wages will have to be met in full, with Manchester City not willing to do a 50-50 deal which is commonplace these days. (Sunday People)

Alan Pardew is hopeful of adding a more direct attacking weapon in the form of Shaun Wright-Phillips to his St James’ Park squad and given that the Manchester City winger has not started a Premier League games in three and a half months a deal may well suit all parties.

Roberto Mancini has been looking to trim expenses at Eastlands and one way he can do that is to put many of his large squad out on loan with a view to permanent deals being agreed on their completion. With Hatem Ben Arfa still out the England wide man could well help the Magpies to push on back towards the top six.
