AC Milan insist no deal has been agreed to sell Ronaldinho, but an exit appears to be inevitable.
The Serie A leaders jetted out to their winter training camp in Dubai on Monday without their Brazilian playmaker.
They claim the former World Player of the Year has been given permission to join up late and will fly out in the next few days.
However, Brazilian outfit Gremio claim they are closing in on a deal to take Ronaldinho, whose current contract expires at the end of the season, back to the club where his illustrious career began.
Coach Renato Portaluppi told Corriere dello Sport: “Ronaldinho to Gremio is 90 per cent done, actually a little more than that.
“He is a great player and a good friend.” (Sky Sports)
So it is looking increasingly likely that AC Milan attacker Ronaldinho will return to his boyhood club after Antonio Cassano’s arrival at the San Siro which will disappoint some Premier League sides who had reportedly made enquiries about signing the 30 year old.
A move back to Brazil may be a tad early for a player who still appears to have a season or two of European football in the tank but perhaps the former Barcelona man feels he has achieved all he can and fancies a move back to where it all started.
Ronaldinho represented Gremio from the age of seven up until he left the Porto Alegre side for Paris St Germain aged 21.
