Arsenal are eyeing up a move for Real Madrid centre back Ezequiel Garay as Arsene Wenger scours Europe for a top notch defender to add to his squad in January. The defender has failed to win over Jose Mourinho and hasn’t managed a single start for the Bernabeu side this season.
The 24 year old was signed by the Spanish giants two and a half years ago but has not managed to force his way into the first team reckoning and is apparently very much available for anyone willing to stump up the club’s valuation, which is reportedly around £8m.
Whereas Garay has not had a great deal of first team football in recent years he is still a wanted player and the likes of Liverpool and Juventus are also considering a move for the former Newell Old Boy. Arsenal are looking to strengthen their defence in the January transfer window and Wenger may find it easier to land the powerful Argentine international than some of his other targets.
Is it also worth noting that whilst Garay has not had much of a look in this season he was selected to start more than half of the club’s La Liga fixtures but has found his chances of regular first team football hampered by the arrival in the summer of Ricardo Carvalho.
