Beleaguered Bundesliga side Borussia Moenchengladbach have completed the transfer of versatile youngster Havard Nordtveit from Premier League side Arsenal for an undisclosed fee.
The Fohlen are battling against relegation this term and head coach Michael Frontzeck was eager to add some fresh blood to his ranks in the January transfer window.
Moenchengladbach previously secured the services of attacker Mike Hanke from Hannover and they’ve now also completed the transfer of Nordtveit. The Norway under-21 star has signed a contract until 2013 with his new club.
“It’s my goal to play as much as possible. I will do my utmost to break into the starting XI and will give everything to help the club forward. Moenchengladbach have had some defensive problems, but I’m hopeful that we’ll return to winning ways after the winter break,” said the defender on the club’s official website. (Goal.com)
Havard Nordtveit has taken the relatively brave decision of leaving Arsenal in the search of first team football, something he has not managed to get anywhere near to during his three years at the Emirates. The Norwegian Under 21 international hasn’t managed a single minute of first team action with the Gunners and is now on his way to Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Bundesliga side are in a horrific state at present having collected just ten points all season, luckily a fair few other teams have also had an awful first half of the season so Michael Frontzeck’s side are still only five points from safety.
