Manchester City will try again for Kaka if the superstar fails to revive his Real Madrid career after knee surgery.
Brazilian Kaka, 28, is close to full fitness after an operation on his left knee last August.
Since then Bernabeu boss Jose Mourinho has bought German Mesut Ozil from Werder Bremen and the World Cup star has been a big hit. That has already put Chelsea and Kaka’s former boss at AC Milan Carlo Ancelotti on high alert.
But sources in Spain claim City have already made plans to bid for the star if he shows signs of leaving in the summer.
Kaka cost Madrid £56million 18 months ago with president Florentino Perez making him his stellar signing. Six months before he signed for the Spanish giants, City failed with an audacious £100m bid.
City, with Mark Hughes in charge at the time, were only in the early stages of their Abu Dhabi-backed money-no-object revolution and despite talks with Kaka’s father, the player was not willing to move.
At the time chief executive Garry Cook claimed Milan ‘bottled it’ when they realised City did have the cash to make the deal happen but Kaka was still wary of making a step down.
Now, though, City are heading for the Champions League and could even win the title – and they have financial muscle no other club in the world can match. (Daily Mirror)
It seems quite plausible that Kaka will look for a Bernabeu exit either in January or perhaps more likely in the summer, but will the Brazilian consider a move to Eastlands? There is no doubt that Roberto Mancini’s side are genuine title contenders and clearly they can offer the 28 year old a vast salary but talk of a move back to Italy may be more likely to come to fruition.
New Inter Milan boss Leonardo is apparently considering a move to bring the talented playmaker to Inter Milan but one imagines that such a move would be something of a problem for the former AC Milan favourite to consider.
AC Milan may also attempt to put in a bid for Kaka but that would depend very much on whether they could afford to make an offer that Real Madrid would accept. Manchester City of course have no such financial concerns and the success of any move for the former World Player of the Year would appear to depend solely on whether the Bernabeu star wishes to make the move to Eastlands or not, a decision that will presumably be helped greatly by the continued success the club enjoys.
Real Madrid will reportedly only accept offers above £45m which seems fair given that they forked out £56m for Kaka less than 18 months ago. Such a bid would break the record for a transfer fee paid by a British club.
