Arsenal are hoping to persuade Blackburn Rovers to sell them unhappy centre back Christopher Samba and may offer Ewood Park boss Steve Kean the chance to loan one of their squad players in return to help sweeten the deal. Arsene Wenger is ready to make a significant bid for the £8m rated Congolese international who has made it clear he wants to leave the club this month.
Kean already stripped the 26 year old of the club captaincy and knows he will have a tough time trying to keep the determined defender at the club and the offer of the loan of the likes of Carlos Vela or Jay Emmanuel-Thomas may well tip the scales in Arsenal’s favour as they head a list of clubs looking to buy Samba.
Wenger has stated his intentions to solidify his error prone defence and knows that Samba has a proven Premier League background and is the type of steely centre back he is looking for to help the club firm things up at the back.
Fellow Premier League sides Tottenham and Liverpool are also said to be keen on the former Hertha Berlin and Sedan man who has amassed 150 starts for the Lancashire club but has made it clear he wants to leave in protest at the sacking of Sam Allardyce last month.
