Sir Alex Ferguson wants to add to his squad in this January transfer window.
“I’d like to get one player in during the transfer window if I could,” he said.
It is understood Ferguson would like a more creative midfield player.
Like many of Europe’s top clubs, United have been monitoring Shinji Kagawa, the Japanese midfielder, who has scored 12 goals in 27 games for the Bundesliga’s runaway leaders Borussia Dortmund this season. (Telegraph)
Manchester United are only really a creative midfielder short of a brilliant team, and although Anderson has long been groomed as the replacement for Paul Scholes, he doesn’t get the goals that he ought to supply.
There is clearly not the same issue with Shinji Kagawa.
Just 21 years of age, Kagawa has settled in wonderfully since signing for Borussia Dortmund in the summer, and has been quite sensational so far this season.
He has already provided 12 goals in 27 games, and has more than paid off his £294,000 transfer fee – which seems positively paltry now.
Goal.com believe that Manchester United will table a £15m bid which would surely prove too good for Borussia Dortmund to turn down, but after massively overspending £7m on Bebe in the summer when five weeks previously they could have secured him on a free transfer, perhaps better negotiation tactics would be required for Kagawa.
